Diagnostic Imaging in the Evaluation of Leg Pain in Athletes

Acute and chronic leg pain are common clinical problems in both competitive and recreational athletes. Diagnostic considerations include more common injuries, such as medial tibial stress syndrome, stress fracture, Achilles tendon disorders, and hamstring injury as well as less-common conditions, such as chronic exertional compartment syndrome and popliteal artery entrapment syndrome.
