study of the propagation coefficient of different hyacinth varieties (HYACINTHUS orieivtalis) depending on the growing duration

A field trial was carried out at the experimental facilities of the Institute of Ornamental Plants - Sofia for a period of four years with the objective to establish the propagation coefficient of 8 hyacinth varieties, namely: two Bulgarian -Karlovski(pink) and Elena (sky blue) and 6 Dutch - Linocance (white), Anna-Mane (pink), Bismarck (purple), Ostara (blue), Jan Bos (red) and Yellow Hammer (yellow). The results obtained showed the following:The duration of hyacinth growing influenced the number, size and weight of the bulbs for further growing and cut flower.When the bulbs were lifted and replanted on an annual basis, the total number of the bulblets and bulbs for cut flower as well as their total weight exceeded those grown on the same place for four years with 1.23 - 1.32 and 1.19 -1.72, respectively.The propagation coefficient of theannually lifted bulbs of all varieties exceeded that of the ones grown on the same place for four years The pink colored varieties, such as Karlovski pink and Anna-Marie, had the highest propagation coefficient - 13.58 and 11.56, respectively.
