ANALYSIS OF DIATOMS IN THE MORAVA Е BINQES RIVER(KOSOVA)

Diatoms of the Morava е Binqes River in Kosova were investigated during the summer of 2006. Water samples collected at four locations - Binqa, near the Macedonian border, Vitia, Kllokot and Budrika - were analyzed for temperature, conductivity, totaldissolved salts, pH, nitrate, and nitrite. Water quality was rateo as Class II. The number of d'stom taxa decreased downstream from first sampling station. Of the 57 taxa identified, 38 were useful indicators of saprobity, the degree of pollution by organic matter. Bioindicator diatoms ranged from oligosaprobic to a-mesosaprobic. The saprobity index was between 1.62 - 1.72 and the level of bonity was second-class (3-mesosaprob. In river Morava Binqes found 57 species of algae. Bioindicator species are38. Dominate genus it was Nitzschia with 14 species. According to the bioindicator saprobiologic species investigate waters classified in in II class of bonity, respectively in mesosaprob.
