An American Electric Power subsidiary will continue building the 600-MW ultra-supercritical Turk coal-fired power plant in Hempstead County, Arkansas, but will develop a small portion of it as a merchant facility following an unfavorable court ruling Thursday. The Arkansas Supreme Court denied requests by Southwestern Electric Power to reconsider a May 14 opinion that voided state approvals for the $1.7 billion facility (PCT 5/15).
