Synthesis and Application of Ionic Liquid As Green Plasticizer for PMMA

As an environmentally benign alternative to conventional solvents,ionic liquids have attracted enormous attention in chemical research as well industry areas over the past years.Recently,studies indicated ionic liquids have a great potential to be used as performance additives.In this paper,ionic liquids [bmim]PF6(1-butyl-3-methylimidazolium hexafluorophosphate)was synthesized,and was applied as plasticizer for poly(methyl methcrylate).It was found that [bmim]PF6 has good compatibility with PMMA and was able to reduce glass transition temperatures of PMMA and improved thermal stability remarkably.
