摘要

Effect of treatment of coupling agent (neopentyl (diallyl) oxy,trineodecanonyl titanate) on mechanical properties of composites made from butadiene rubber and clay is reported here.A titanate-coupling agent (2.0%) was selected for the treatment of the clay filler (the earlier study was made with 1.0% titanate coupling agent by the authors).The treatment resulted in enhancement of mechanical properties of composites of the said rubber when compared with untreated clay composites prepared separately.The properties under consideration were tensile strength,modulus at 100 and 400 per cent,Young's modulus,hardness,etc.Tensile strength was improved by 215 per cent,modulus at 400 per cent was found to improve by 575 per cent while Young's modulus also was improved by 275 at 0.45 volume fraction of composite containing treated clay when compared those with untreated clay.
