Polyurethane cationomers based on poly(caprolactone) diol with or without poly(ethylene oxide) diol, isophorone diisocyanate, 2,6-bis(hydroxymethyl)pyridine and benzyl bromide, as quaternizing agent were synthesized and characterized. The sensitivity of E. Coil, S. Aureus and B. Subtilis against synthesized polymers was tested in vitro. It was found that polymer concentrations of about 0.8 mg mL~(-1) appreciably inhibited the growth. The antibacterial response was the lowest in the case of polymers with polyethylene oxide sequences.
