摘要

The monomers 4-phenoxyphenyl acrylate (POPA) and 4-phenoxyphenyl methacrylate (POPMA) were synthesized by the reaction of acryloy/methacryloyl chloride with the corresponding substituted phenol. The monomers were characterized by elemental analysis and IR, ~1H NMR and ~(13)C NMR spectral studies. The free radical polymerization of monomers in 2-butanone using benzoyl peroxide (BPO) as initiator resulted in the formation of corresponding pomopolymers, which is turn were characterized by spectral studies. Molecular weight determination of the polymers indicates that their weight average molecular weight (Mw) and number average molecular weight (Mn) range from 4.395-5.17 X )~4, respectively. Thermal studies show that the polymers undergo decomposition in the range 355-565 deg C, and their glass transition temperature (Tg) lies between 74-97 deg C
