摘要

We read with interest and welcome the paper by Nosho et al. in the December 2010 issue of the Journal of Pathology [1]. The authors present a comprehensive study, both summarizing the literature on tumour-infiltrating lymphocytes (TILs) as a prognostic biomarker in colorectal cancer (CRC) and re-assessing the role of CD3+, CD8+, CD45RO+ and FoxP3+ TILs on CRC outcome. In their large series comprising all AJCC CRC stages in a multivariate, stage-matched analysis, only the density of CD45RO+ TILs was predictive of a better disease-specific survival (DSS), independently from MSI, the other strong prognostic biomarker [1].
