In a leading move, Marcegaglia of Italy added ?30/tonne to its strip prices in mid-December taking HR coil to 40 euros/tonne ex-works. Riva and other mills followed suit. Yet while the HR coil price increase appears to have been accepted, the increase in HDG prices has been more sluggish. Part of the reason is the weakness in the construction market. The profile market remains depressed taking limited volumes.
