摘要

The submergence tolerance mechanism in respect to seedling height, carbohydrate, chlorophyll and specific leaf weight (SLW) was studied in rice. Twenty-five-day-old seedlings of 5 rice cultivars were submerged for 12 days. Submergence tolerant cultivars consumed more carbohydrates in the beginning of submergence to elongate the seedling height and later produce new carbohydrates after exposure of the leaves in the sunlight- above water. Moreover, they maintained more chlorophyll and SLW as compared with susceptible cultivars during submergence.
