Effect of Biofertilizers on the Morphology, Root Yield and Biochemical Parameters of Withania somnifera (L.) Dunal

The results of a field experiment conducted during 2003-2004 with two biofertilizers Azotobacter chroococcum and Azospirillum brasilense when applied as seed treatment at the rate of 0.5 kg ha~(-1) to Withania somnifera (L.) Dunal revealed that Azospirillum treatment resulted in beneficial effect morphologically on root and shoot biomass and biochemically for the assimilation of total ami no acids, proteins, starch and crude fiber when applied under field conditions.
