Temperatures in non-LTE hot plasmas

It, is shown that all ten major atomic processes occurring in hot plasmas tend to generate level populations which nearly obey a decreasing exponential law with respect to energy, within each electronic configuration. From the re suits of a configuration-to-configuration collisional-radiative model, it is possible to deduce the effective temperature of each configuration. This global approach is proposed for describing the level populations in non-LTE hot plasmas. [References: 13]
