Look-alike coal extends Monday's pricing gains

NYMEX look-alike coal prices continued to surge higher, extending Monday's gains. Market sources attributed higher prices to end of the month trading and a consolidation of price gains for European delivered coal products. In the over-the-counter market Tuesday, Q2 2011 lookalike traded as high as 71.75 dollars/st, 1 dollars/st above the prior Platts assessment. Turnover in look-alike products fell from Monday's levels, with traders continuing to hold interest in 2011 terms.
