During 2005, we witnessed the debate about the future of Social Security rise to the very top of the domestic political agenda in the U.S., and then fall from prominence without any meaningful legislative changes to ensure its long-term health. While opponents of reforming the system won a temporary political battle, one simple reality remains: Social Security must change if it is to be made financially secure.
