Michigan to make coal plant permitting tougher

Michigan Governor Jennifer Granholm wants to cut the state's use of fossil fuels to generate electricity and make it tougher to build the seven coal-fired plants under consideration. In her Tuesday night State of the State address, Granholm said she directed the Michigan Department of Environmental Quality to work with the Public Service Commission to perform an enhanced analysis of all coal plant permit applications.
