Dynegy sees no 'dramatic price increase' in coal

Unlike some US power generators, Houston-based Dynegy said Thursday it is experiencing no "dramatic price increases" for coal, mainly because its Illinois coal-fired power plants rely exclusively on low-sulfur Powder River Basin coal. "Our Midwest fleet uses 100 percent PRB coal which has not seen dramatic price increases like Eastern coal," Bruce Williamson, Dynegy chairman, president and CEO, told financial analysts during a phone conference to discuss second-quarter earnings.
