LG&E/KU in 2-year coal deal with Patriot Coal

Louisville Gas & Electric and Kentucky Utilities have signed a two-year, 1.2 million-short ton coal supply contract with Patriot Coal Sales that will supply them with 850,000 st of coal from the Patriot complex in Henderson County, Kentucky, operated by Patriot affiliate Grand Eagle Mining, or from the Freedom mine operated by affiliate Ohio County Coal, as well as 350,000 st of coal from Patriot affiliate Highland Mining's Highland mining complex in Union County, Kentucky. The contract runs through 2010, and will supply the utilities with 100,000 st of Patriot or Freedom coal this year and 750,000 st in 2010, as well as 100,000 st of Highland coal this year and 250,000 st in 2010.
