Annual NOx trades briskly, while SO2 sits

The sulfur dioxide spot market continued to lack price support for the third week running, while the annual nitrogen oxide market traded briskly during the week of February 2. Regulatory uncertainty and a huge allowance bank are causing the spot price of 2009 SO2 allowances to decline by 12 dollars to 105 dollars/short ton by close of trading Friday. About 21,000 st of this vintage were traded altogether during this week. Thursday saw the most action with 10,500 allowances trading at prices ranging between 115 dollars/st and 108 dollars/st.
