American Electric Power on Monday retired an older, 165-MW coal-fired unit at its Conesville power plant on the Muskingum River in Coshocton County, Ohio. Conesville Unit 3 was shuttered because the Columbus, Ohio-based company decided not to invest the millions of dollars necessary to upgrade the facility to comply with new U.S. Environmental Protection Agency rules, Melissa McHenry, an AEP spokeswoman, said in an interview.
