Kentucky Utilities, LG&E steam coal contract dispute set for June trial

Five years after the dispute arose, a June 17 jury trial has been scheduled in Webster County Circuit Court in Dixon, Kentucky, in a breach-of-contract suit brought by Kentucky Utilities and Louisville Gas & Electric against Resource Sales, Allied Resources, Cochise Coal and Smoky Mountain Coal. The two PPL Corp. subsidiaries, the largest electric utilities in Kentucky with nearly a million customers, seek to recover unspecified damages resulting from the alleged non-delivery of 1,019,829 short tons of high-sulfur western Kentucky coal.
