BNSF posts record $3.4 bil profit in 2012: Buffett

Fort Worth-based BNSF Railway posted a record profit of $3.4 billion in 2012, a 13.5% increase from 2012 income of $3 billion, according to Warren Buffett's annual letter to shareholders of Berkshire Hathaway, BNSF's parent company. The letter, posted Friday after market close, showed that BNSF had revenues of $20.8 billion in 2012 compared with $19.6 billion in 2011, a 6.6% increase.
