NCCC to begin testing capture technologies

The National Carbon Capture Center is ready to begin testing post-combustion technologies at its facility in Alabama, the Department of Energy announced Tuesday. The new testing center, the Post-Combustion Carbon Capture Center (PC4), is located at Alabama Power's Gaston power plant Unit 5, an 800-MW supercritical coal unit. The center is part of the larger NCCC, a testing center established by DOE in 2009 and operated by Southern Company.
