Concentric-coiled-tubing well vacuuming for complex horizontal wells

Recent development of heavy-oil reserves in the Orinoco belt has required use of cutting-edge oilfield techniques. The latest in pumping technology and horizontal multilateral-well completions are being used and enhanced The zones of interest typically are poorly consolidated sands that require completions with slotted liners. Post-drilling cleanup is very important to optimize performance of these long and multibranched horizontal wells. Combining concentric coiled tubing (CCT) with a jet pump to do both post-drilling fluid-cleanup and sand-removal operations improves production performance and provides additional benefits for downstream facilities during startup.
