The full-length paper details three wells drilled in the Pompano field in the deep-water Gulf of Mexico (GOM).The issues of drilling depleted sands,wellbore insta-bility at high angles,and risks associated with drilling subsalt extended-reach wells are discussed.The paper concludes by providing guidelines and recommen-dations for p9replanning activities,drilling practices,and real-time wellbore-stability management.
