An official with Rhino Resource Partners confirmed Friday his company is selling metallurgical coal to India, and the south Asian country represents a potential new market for Lexington, Kentucky-based Rhino. Rick Boone, Rhino CFO, said in an interview that the company is selling about 250,000 short tons of met coal this year to India “through a broker,” whom he did not identify. Last month, David Zatezalo, Rhino president and CEO, disclosed the Indian sale during a presentation to a master limited partnership conference in Greenwich, Connecticut (PCT 5/27). Rhino's met production was about 200,000 st in the first quarter this year and is projected to increase to 1.25 million st in 2012.
