Duke Indiana scraps refined-coal retrofits

Duke Energy Indiana says it has scrapped plans to install refined-coal facilities to reduce emissions at its 3,145-MW Gibson and 1,062-MW Cayuga baseload coal-fired power plants. The state's largest electric utility told the Indiana Utility Regulatory Commission on Wednesday that testing to determine the effectiveness of the process produced results “that did not support moving forward with the refined coal project at either generating station.”
