Wednesday's over-the-counter trading saw prices of NYMEX look-alike coal move on either side of the prior day's trades. The near-term delivery periods for look-alike coal appeared to trade flat, while those further into 2011 traded lower than Tuesday. The price decline in natural gas contracts did not translate into significant price movements in the eastern coal markets, according to market sources. They observed that natural gas prices did push down the prices of eastern coal during the morning session, but that effect was countered by afternoon activity in which the prices seemed to draw closer to Tuesday's trades.
