Cerebral vasculitis and nephritis in a child: complicated Henoch-Schonlein purpura or a rare case of Wegener's granulomatosis?

In Henoch Schonlein purpura (HSP), the involvement of the central nervous system (CNS) may occur, with neurological manifestations being more common than previously believed. Furthermore, Wegener's granulomatosis (WG) is a potentially life-threatening vasculitis commonly affecting upper and lower respiratory tract, kidneys, peripheral and CNS, etc. Only four cases of WG with severe CNS involvement have been reported in children to date.
