Viral hepatitis and the kidney

Due to the many interactions between liver and kidney, we organized a multidisciplinary meeting on the 25th of May 2012 to update the bridges from the liver sinusoid to the glomerulus! Recent advances in the pathobiology and the treatment of hepatorenal syndrome have been highlighted by Dr Richard Moreau. The impact of renal failure on the one hand and of the underlying liver disease on the other hand on the metabolism of the drugs which are the most frequently used in both specialities have been deeply discussed by Dr Dominique Larrey. Dr Helene Fontaine also detailed the epidemiology, diagnosis and currently available treatments of hepatitis B virus (HBV) infection in patients with renal failure, dialysis or kidney transplantation.
