Start-ups’ latest financials show challenges of route to revenue growth

August saw Canadian firm Bioamber announce its latest quarterly results, for the period ending 30 June 2015. the published results mark an important stage for the bioplastics producer, having just completed the work on its commercial facility for bio-succinic acid. it will now be looking to go on to rapidly grow its commercial revenues. Bioamber’s results today reflect a start-up that has made only modest progress commercially. the company recorded revenues of $342,000 (?300,000) in Q2 2015, as compared to $415,000 in the corresponding 2014. these revenues translated into a net loss of $14.8 million in the 2015 quarter, as compared to a $14.1 million loss in the 2014 period.
