A 31 -year-old woman was admitted to hospital at 10 weeks' gestation in her first pregnancy, with severe vomiting, a 3-week history of severe headache and ketonuria. Prior to the pregnancy, she had regular cycles and conceived spontaneously. Her past medical history was unremarkable. A diagnosis of hyperemesis gravidarum was made. Symptoms resolved after rehydration and anti-emetics. Booking tests and ultrasound were normal.
