Spontaneous rupture of the uterus secondary to placenta percreta with conservation of the uterus.

Placenta percreta is a rare complication of pregnancy which is potentially life-threatening. Its incidence should rise steadily as frequency of caesarean section and advanced maternal age, both independent risk factors, increase (Hung et al. 1999). We present a rare case of spontaneous uterine rupture at 19 weeks as a result of placenta percreta. The case was successfully treated with conservation of the uterus.
