Better Fluorescent Probes Facilitate Cellular Imaging

Fluorescent probes are small but powerful, shedding light on the inner working of cells and the diseases that afflict them. However, sometimes the right probe for a particular job does not exist. That is why research and development of new probes continues. A look at recent efforts from around the globe finds new probes that track glucose usage, that are brighter by design, that highlight dying cells and that pack dyes to-gether without having them get in each other's way, fluorescently speaking.
