Fourteen sugarcane (Saccharum spp. hybrids) genotypes were screened for their ability to restrain chloride accumulation in the leaf laminae by studying its partitioning and accumulation at salt stresses induced by 10 and 200 mM sodium chloride solutions. Genotypes like, CoLk 7810, LG 9202, LG 9203, LG 9107 and LG 9208 appeared to possess the ability to restrain Cl uptake and its accumulation in the leaf laminae to a reasonable degree.
