摘要

The development, use and performance of Jaldi Dhan varieties of rice in different areas and conditions in India are discussed. A brief description is given of Jaldi Dhan 3 (JD3), a medium-tall (~110 cm), extra-early variety which matures in 65-75 days in the wet season and 75-85 days in the dry season. Derived from the cross Dular Mutant/Nagina 22//PNR351/Mtu 17 Mutant, JD3 produces high yields, outyielding the national standards Heera Aditya and Sattiri in trials conducted in 1989-92 (at 47 locations in Madhya Pradesh, Bihar and Uttar Pradesh).
