Australian meat rendering to turn waste into plastic

While Europe is exploring abundant and accessible byproduct sources for plastics, an Australian initiative is showing how localised waste sourcing and conversion could work. Hamilton, New Zealand-based Aduro Biopolymers has developed a process in which meat processing byproducts can be converted into granules for composite materials. In February 2013 the company announced funding from rendering business Wallace to help take its technology to market.
