Epilepsy is one of the most commonly encountered neurologic disorders in pregnancy, affecting 0.3% to 0.7% of pregnant women. Ruth and Barnett provide an overview of epilepsy and other types of seizure disorders and their associated symptoms. They specifically review recommended pharmacologic therapy for pregnancy, and an excellent table compares side effects, dose ranges, and fetal anomalies associated with drug therapy.
