More bio-based materials ready to order

The pool of commercially available bioplastics is widening. Companies like NatureWorks and Cereplast are being joined by new suppliers of volume bioplastics, as pilots and full production plants are added across the globe. The trend for volumes increasing is in keeping with Smithers Pira’s prediction that volumes will grow to meet demand for 884,000 tonnes of bioplastic packaging by 2020, with many other application areas boosting overall demand.
