摘要

Aonla (Emblica officinalis Gaertn. Syn. Phyllanthus emblica L.) is an important fruit crop grown in semi-arid tropics. It is known as Indian gooseberry, amla or emblica. Major aonla growing states are Uttar Pradesh, Gujarat, Andhra Pradesh and Tamil Nadu. Aonla is cultivated in about 49,620 ha which together gives an annual production of 1,50,500 tonnes. About 15 to 20% of harvested aonla fruits are lost particularly due to the fruit rots caused by different pathogens before reaching to consumers (Singh 2006).
