First report of Metarrhizium anisopliae (Metchnikoff) Sorokin on cowpea aphid ( Aphis crassivora Koch) (Homoptera: Aphididae) from North East India.

During surveys conducted in Assam, India, in 2011, an unknown fungal species was found pathogenic to the cowpea aphid ( Aphis craccivora). The pathogen was identified as Metarhizium anisopliae based on cultural, morphological and pathogenicity tests. This is thought to be the first report of M. anisopliae on A. craccivora in India.
