Management of Wilt of Patchouli Caused by Fusarium solani

Wilt caused by Fusarium solani (Mart.) Sacc. is a serious disease in patchouli. The efficacy of fungicides, plant extracts and biocontrol agents against F. solani was evaluated in vitro and in pot culture. Six systemic and six non-systemic fungicideswere tested against F. solani to control wilt disease of patchouli. The results revealed that the systemic fungicides, carbendazim and carbendazim + mancozeb gave 100 per cent inhibition of mycelial growth at all concentrations tested. Mancozeb at 0.2 and 0.3% recorded cent per cent inhibition followed by propineb at 0.3%. Pot culture studies revealed that wilt was effectively managed by drenching the soil with 0.1% carbendazim, carbendazim + mancozeb, carboxin + thiram and propiconazole. Carbendazim recorded a maximum plant vigour.
