Several fungal, bacterial and actinomycetes antagonists isolated from chickpea rhizosphere were evaluated against F. oxysporum f. sp. ciceri, the chickpea wilt pathogen under laboratory and green house conditions. The fungal antagonists Trichoderma harzianum (Th-I), T. viride (Tv-1433), T. viride (Tv-1) bacterial antagonist i.e. Pseudomonas fluorescens (Pf-I), P. fluorescens (Pf-P), Bacillus subtilis (SEBC-15) and B. subtilis (Bs 4-6) significantly inhibited the mycelial growth of F. oxysporum f. sp. ciceri in vitro. Wilt incidence was considerably reduced in response to seed treatment @ 8 g kg-1 seed and soil application @ 2 g kg-1 soil of talc-based formulations of fungal and bacterial antagonists under green house conditions. Among the antagonists, T. harzianum (Th-8), P. fluorescens (Pf-I) B. subtilis (Bs 4-6) and T. viride (Tv-1) provided effective protection against Fusarium wilt in chickpea under greenhouse conditions.
