The paper presents the essential issues, conditions and a procedure for diagnostic tests of percussion mechanism of hydraulically operated rock drills. The design of a test stand for testing percussion mechanisms together with the methodology of supply and operational parameter measurements are also presented. Examples of the test results are given in the form of complete operational characteristics of the mechanisms subjected to tests, which enable the power capacity and the proper operation of mechanisms to be assessed.
