The contribution of World Mining Congress in the formation of present picture of the global mining of mineral resources

The celebrated jubilee of the 50th anniversary of existence of the World Mining Congress organisation is linked with the 21st World Mining Congress which will be held from 7th to 11th September in Krakow, Poland, under the patronage of Mr. Lech Kaczynski, the President of the Republic of Poland. This is the expression of honouring the Polish mining community which, since origin in 1958 of this world-wide mining organisation, have made a substantial, organisational and matter-related contribution, to its activities. The key figure is here the personage of Professor Boleslaw Krupinski, the initiator of establishing the WMC, and many-years president of the International Organising Committee. This jubilee is a good opportunity to make summary of the effects of 50-years WMC activity, and a trial to answer the question "what was and what is the WMC contribution to the formation of the image of the world mining of mineral materials".
