This paper deals with the beneficiation characteristics of Kelsey jig treating Gondwana coal fines of size less than 0.5mm. An attempt has also been made to identify the suitable ragging material for cleaning coal fines with Kelsey jig. The performance of the jig using silica sand as ragging material has been found to be better than that of conventional flotation method and is nearer to ideal separation process as predicted by the washability curves.
