Indian Bureau of Mines successfully carried out three beneficiation tests as part of its relentless efforts to develop flowsheets for upgrading lean ores for specific industrial utility.(1) Pollucite ore : Possibly for the first time in India, a study for cesium recovery was conducted on a low grade pollucite ore (cesium-bearing pegmatite) sample from Beku area, Purulia district in West Bengal.(2) Manganese ore: Laboratory tests earlier conducted by IBM were confirmed in a pilot-scale investigation carried out on a low grade manganese ore sample from Bharveli Mines, Balaghat district, Madhya Pradesh. By employing simple processes, concentrates were obtained as per assay and size specifications as stipulated by the party.(3) Rock phosphate: A simple flowsheet with high mineral recoveries and low reagent consumption has been evolved for a dolomitic rock phosphate sample from Jhamarkotra, Rajasthan. The phosphate concentrate thus obtained is suitable for producing phosphoric acid and dolomitic concentrate obtained its suitable for refractory manufacture.
