Location and exploration of hidden coal fires in India - extinguishing strategies

The environment of the coalfields and coal regions of India are seriously affected by uncontrolled coal fires. These coal fires are manmade and emerge from uncontrolled mining activities. The extinguishing of these coal fires is one of the major environmental issues which the newly industrialized Republic of India has to tackle in the nearer future. To fulfil this work an extinguishing strategy is essential requisition. DMT experts have devised such a strategy for the extinguishing of coal fires in Nimcha and Samdhi area of West Bengal/India:
