Mining industry is under pressure to meet the demands of continuous increase in infra-structural activities across the globe. Information Technology (IT), which has proved its utility in financial and basic engineering industries, is increasingly being used by mining industry also to improve its productivity. Various tools, made possible by the advancement of software industry in the last decade, are now being used in all spheres of mining industry with improved results and enhanced efficiency. The confluence of mining and software has resulted in better solutions for all sub-units of mining operations. Drilling and blasting (D&B), being the most important part of a mining cycle, has attracted the maximum attention of software developers. Orica mining services (OMS) have been the global leader in providing cutting edge solutions for improvement of drilling and blasting. Leveraging its technical know-how and working closely with software expert Orica has successfully developed a suite of blast designing and modelling softwares. These softwares coupled with Orica's products is helping the mining industry worldwide by delivering smart solutions to their needs.
