Milling fatalities--where do we go from here?

The hazardous nature of mining not only calls for eternal vigilance, but also a commitment to a mindset and a hierarchy of controls that could help root out the scourge of fatalities in the industry. The International Council on Mining & Metals (ICMM), in a succinct document titled "Leadership Matters - The Elimination of Fatalities", has cogently highlighted the ultimate responsibility of leadership in the elimination of fatalities through systems and processes that could lead to zero fatalities.
